MAN 5t (Prototyp)

The truck

After the TTTT started in 2000, I often think about all wheel drive. The best choice to force the front wheels should be a cardan joint. But how to assemble such a complicated thing?
A long time of thinking, but one day the idea arrived

A short description:
The shaft is made of 2mm brasswire. It's end you have to machine as shown on the picture. The cross in the middle is made of 0.8 mm brasspipe. A 0.5 mm brasswire is mounted athwart. Now you have to soldering. The tin-solder have to flow in the pipe down to the wire. Be attentive to not soldering the cross to the outer brasspipe.

Now it was time for the next idea. Every axle gets it's own servo.

The cardan joint and the axle bearing.

The driveline with motor. The frontaxle is mounted by a balance shaft.

Since 2001 this truck drives without problems. It's a lot of fun to steering each axle of it's own.
